Architecture
The first location I went to was the amazing dollar tree. The dollar tree is very ominous if you drive past it at night. The store has this luminescent green sign which is overall fairly creepy. Also the store has some interesting parts. If you look at the back there is a ladder that I assume goes to the roof. Further, there is a weird garage in the back. A major obstacle I faced was I wasn't sue who would be behind the store at night. Therefore, I had to overcome my own fears to take the photos. I wanted to convey the store as a tad washed out. I hoped it would be depicted through my photos as a lonesome dark score waiting at the outside of town.
During that night, I preceded to go to Kroger. Kroger is the only shop my parents ever buy from. Infact, I have most likely gone to every Kroger in Ann Arbor. Within my photos, I made sure to get the inside of Kroger so the whole store was shown. The major issue I had was my camera was running out of battery, so I needed to take some of the photos twice. My composition was meant to show the intricacies of the store from the inside glowing utilities to the sight of the sign outside. Also, I wanted to convey the emptiness of night. While looking Kroger nobody was there, I wanted the audience to feel alone.
I went to a conference in lansing for my school's newspaper. There, I was able to visit the fantastic capitol building. The building is one of excellence and that is meant to inspire all of those. In turn, I was trying to depict that through my photos. The outside of the building is a very large white building. I worked to get the building and the sky in the frame. This very large building was provided me with very strong lighting. A major dilemma I had was people were in the photos. Sadly, I wasn't able to take many photos without people because the building was so busy.
I walked through a building with vast rooms and beautiful architecture. A major issue was knowing where it was allowed to take the photos. However, in total the buildings staff was really compliant when it came to taking new photos. I chose my composition within my photos was to show the most of the building as possible, as its architecture was really great. I hope to show the entire lengths of the building. Once again, I was hoping to compose the photographs as very grand and lavish. Hopefully these images mirror the greatness of the building.
As I walked back from capitol building I found myself really appreciating a large part of lansing's architecture. I took a bridge back from the building. I decided to take some photos of the inside of the bridge. Also, I took photos of the architecture from inside the bridge. The entire scene was extremely impressive. I wanted to depict lansing as beautiful and strong. In addition, I was hoping that the composition would be able to appreciate the entirety of the land that I was walking on. There wasn't any major struggles within this photo because of the emptiness of where I was walking.
